New Incoming Honors Student Scholarships

ISU Scholarships
New incoming freshmen (First Time, First Year students) and Transfer students are automatically considered for the many scholarships ISU offers. This includes out-of-state and international students. Your application for admission to ISU serves as your "scholarship application" so long as your ISU application is complete (all required documents submitted) by July 1 (for Fall semester start) or November 1 (for Spring semester start).
New Incoming Idaho Resident Scholarships
Idaho Residents who are new incoming freshmen (First Time, First Year students) or Transfer students are automatically considered for scholarships based on their GPA and/or test scores. Learn more about ISU's new incoming resident freshman scholarships or new incoming transfer student scholarships.
New Incoming Out-of-State and International Waivers
New incoming out-of-state freshmen (First Time, First Year students), including International students, are considered for the Non-Resident Tuition Waiver and/or the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) waiver. Learn more about these waivers.
Honors Scholarship Package
Acceptance to the University Honors Program (UHP) provides additional scholarships to First Time, First Year and Transfer students so long as your UHP application is complete (all required documents submitted) by July 1.
Note: Seats in the UHP are limited and acceptance is competitive. Applications received by January 15 are given priority consideration and seats typically fill by March. If you apply after January 15, your application may be placed on a waitlist. We encourage you to apply early!
Bennion Scholar/ISU Leadership Scholarship
Samuel Horne Bennion was a legendary Idaho businessman who was absolutely committed to Idaho State University, giving millions in donations during his lifetime. In the fall of 2005, as one of his final gifts, Mr. Bennion gave nearly $700,000 to the University Honors Program. He had one request -- he wanted Idaho’s best and brightest to stay and gain their educations in Idaho.
This is a one-time, one-year, $1000 scholarship ($500 per semester for the first two semesters).
In order to be considered for the Bennion/Leadership Scholarship, you must meet these requirements:
- You must be a First Time, First Year or Transfer student.
- You must apply to Idaho State University by July 1.
- You must apply to the University Honors Program by July 1.
- You must meet the academic admission (GPA/SAT/ACT) criteria for the Honors Program.
- You must be accepted into the University Honors Program.
Honors ISU Housing Scholarship
Idaho State University has generously donated scholarships to support Honors students who plan to live in University Housing. Eligible Honors students who live in on-campus housing starting with their first semester at ISU will receive $1000 per academic year (Fall and Spring semester) for four years with continuous residency.
Note: If you move out of University Housing at any time (excluding the summer) you will forfeit the housing scholarship.
In order to be considered for the Housing scholarship, you must meet these requirements:
- You must be a First Time, First Year or Transfer student.
- You must apply to Idaho State University by July 1.
- You must apply to the Idaho State University Honors Program by July 1.
- You must apply to University Housing. (Applications for Housing are made in the Housing Portal of MyISU)
- You must be accepted into the University Honors Program.
- You must continuously live in on-campus ISU housing starting with your first semester at ISU.
